Professional Info
My name is J. D. Huffman, and I am a 25 year old meteorology student. I have been interested in meteorology for 12 years now (since 2009), and I am a Student Member of the National Weather Association (NWA) along with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). I also have a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), and If it were not for my Autism, I would not be the person I am today.
When I am not studying the weather, doing homework, or running forecast models, I am usually found watching Twister, the movie that got me interested in meteorology and atmospheric science in the first place.
I have experience working with the Gibson Ridge GRLevel3 and GR2Analyst (GRLevelX) Doppler Radar, along with Microsoft Office and Office 365 and virtual meeting applications, such as Zoom, GoToMeeting, Skype, Microsoft Teams, etc. I am also a trained/certified Advanced SKYWARN weather spotter for the National Weather Service (since 2009).
I am currently pursuing my Associate Degree in General Science at Gaston College in North Carolina, and I am a member of TRiO/Student Support Services at Gaston College.
