ABOUT ME
Student Member

My name is J. D. Huffman, and I have been interested in meteorology and atmospheric science for as long as I can remember, and in 2009 I was first trained and certified as a SKYWARN Spotter with the National Weather Service in Greer, SC. I also have a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), of which I was diagnosed in 2008, and I have to thank for making me the person I am today.
I am an undergraduate meteorology student at Gaston College in Dallas, NC, along with being a student member of the American Meteorological Society, the American Meteorological Society Weather Band, and TRiO/Student Support Services.
In November of 2017, I founded the Huffman Weather Service as a private-sector meteorological news media and research group. Since then, the Huffman Weather Service has provided coverage and short and long-term weather forecasts for the Charlotte-Metropolitan Area of North and South Carolina for numerous weather events, including Hurricane Michael, Hurricane Florence, Hurricane Dorian, and the historic 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
